The main purpose of this blog is to give hints and examples of the best technology tools to meet the nurse educator's needs. I hope that both students and nurse educators will use this site for integrating new technology in their teaching and learning.
What I have observed is that many nurses feel intimidated by technology as they think that it might break. There may also be some fear about technology in that nurses deal with technology that may be dangerous to patients. They learn the technology needed to keep patients safe and worry if they don't follow the common protocol for that technology. With the increase use of Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 technology, it's almost impossible to permanently destroy and erase documents.
There are quite a few diverse trends in nursing education technology occuring. Here is a recent powerpoint given to a group of nurse educators you may wish review that discusses these new trends.
Some of the categories of topics that will be explored on this site included but are not limited to:
- Introduction to instruction technology and nursing
- Evaluating instructional technology
- Presentation tools
- Communication tools
- Collaboration tools
- Digital storytelling tools
- Learning management systems
- Simulation tools
- Learner evaluation tools
- Interactivity tools
- Mobile tools
